About
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a Certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a master’s degree in counseling from Regent University.
My professional path took a significant turn in the 1990s when I experienced the onset of major depression. It felt like slogging through jello—slow, painful, and overwhelming. Through God’s grace and the support of skilled counselors, I found healing. This restoration led me to pursue a career in counseling, feeling called to help others who were going through depression, anxiety, and other life-altering struggles.
While I have acquired a variety of therapeutic skill sets over the years, I have found Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to provide profound and lasting results. If you are not familiar with EMDR, I would encourage you to watch the linked videos produced by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).
While I approach my work from a Christian perspective, I welcome and counsel clients of all faith backgrounds. My aim is to offer compassionate care that integrates both psychological principles and spiritual truth.
I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), and Northern Virginia Licensed Professional Counselors (NVLPC). I have been married since 1984 and am blessed with three adult children and daughter-in-law.
