Jan Walker is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia and a Certified EMDR Therapist. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a master’s degree in counseling from Regent University.
Prior to independent practice, Jan worked at the Meier Clinics in Fairfax, Va. There she was an outpatient counselor and a member of the treatment team for Meier's partial hospitalization program. Other experience includes a two year residency with the Center for Pastoral Counseling of Virginia, and internships in alcohol and drug treatment services with the City of Alexandria, Fairfax County and Gospel Rescue Ministries. In addition, she enjoyed 12 years as an inner healing prayer minister in several Virginia churches.
With a background in legislative affairs, Jan’s professional experience shifted in the 1990s with the onset of major depression. Having been restored through God’s grace and godly counsel, she felt called to pursue the counseling profession to help others who were experiencing depression, anxiety, loss or other life-changing events. While Jan approaches her work from a Christian perspecive, she counsels clients of all faiths.
Jan is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and Northern Virginia Licensed Professional Counselors (NVLPC). She has been married since 1984 and has three children.
